Soo J. Hong is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Los Angeles office. She is a member of the firm’s Hospitality & Leisure Practice, conducting senior assignments across a variety of functions for the world’s largest resort, lodging, gaming and entertainment companies. Soo is also a member of the firm’s Real Estate Practice and has completed assignments in development, design and construction for some of the world’s premier real estate ventures.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Soo was a senior member of the consumer sector of another leading global executive search firm, where she established and led the firm’s global gaming practice. Her global placements include CEOs, COOs and CFOs as well as their direct reports, including GMs, development, finance, human resources, marketing, retail, entertainment and food and beverage executives. Some of the clients she has served include Ford Models, Foxwoods, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Global Hyatt Corporation, Harrah’s Entertainment, Las Vegas Sands, Live Nation, Morgans Hotel Group, Penn National, Scientific Games, Shuffle Master and Vail Resorts.
Before commencing her search career, Soo worked in the professional services and publishing industries. She spent six years with Booz Allen Hamilton, advising clients in the consumer, retail and healthcare industries on a variety of strategic issues. She held senior strategic planning and development positions with Synapse Group, a division of Time, where she was responsible for customer acquisition programs for magazines such as O, the Oprah Magazine, and BusinessWeek. She started her career with Fitch (part of WPP), the international brand, product development and design consultancy.
Soo is a member of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Alumni Association and has served on the board of the association’s Alumni Club of New York City. She also serves as a board member of Battery Dance Company, the longest running dance company in lower Manhattan. Soo received her M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where she was a recipient of the Dean’s Award of Distinction. She also received a B.A. cum laude in American studies from Wellesley College.
