Based in Spencer Stuart’s Chicago office, François Truc brings 20 years of global experience and knowledge of the automotive industry acquired through a diverse industry and consulting experience in the U.S., Europe and Asia. He co-leads the Automotive Practice and is a member of the firm’s Industrial Practice. His focus is on senior-level general management and functional executive needs for clients in the automotive and electronics industries. His work spans Fortune 500, privately held and equity-backed companies.
Before joining Spencer Stuart, François acquired extensive operational experience in industry roles and strategy insight as a consultant. Most recently, as a vice president and general manager with Magna International, he developed Magna International’s entry strategy in automotive electronics and later managed its operations in North America and Asia. At Delphi Delco Electronics and Safety, François held various commercial positions, leading the company through its process of independence from General Motors, re-aligning its portfolio and implementing the company’s market-driven commercial team and processes. During his 10 years with management consultant Booz Allen Hamilton, François focused his work on innovation process improvements and driving large-scale transformation and expansion strategies for his clients around the globe. During his last four years as a vice president in the automotive practice in Chicago, François led the development of the firm’s automotive Tier 1 business serving clients such as Siemens VDO Automotive, Delphi and Johnson Controls. He also became an integral part of Saab Automotive’s “Viggen” program, leading the restructuring of its engineering organization.
François earned a B.S. in mathematics, physics and chemistry prior to his B.A. from École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris and an M.B.A., with distinction, from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. François is bilingual in French and English, and has working knowledge of German.
