Michele Haertel is leader of Spencer Stuart’s Academia Practice and a member of Spencer Stuart’s Education, Nonprofit & Government Practice. Her search efforts focus on leadership positions in higher education, arts and culture institutions and foundations.
Michele’s recent search assignments have included recruiting college presidents, university deans, foundation presidents and senior executives in humanitarian aid organizations. Sensitive to the unique requirements of nonprofit search, she has partnered effectively with search committees interested in building multi-constituency support and consensus in the search process. Michele has been fortunate to work with prominent organizations in their fields, including the Museum of Modern Art, the New York Public Library and Columbia University.
Michele brings a wealth of nonprofit and corporate experience to her clients, making her an ideal choice for clients seeking a candidate slate that merges traditional nonprofit leaders with corporate executives interested in utilizing their business skills on behalf of nonprofit organizations. Drawing on her human resources background, Michele brings unique and specialized expertise to nonprofit clients in need of identifying and attracting chief human resources officers. Michele has served on multiple nonprofit boards and advisory committees. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Holy Cross College.
