Susan Coffin joined Spencer Stuart’s Chicago office in 2001, where until recently, she led the North American Industrial Practice. She is also a member of the Board, Private Equity and Marketing Officer practices. A 24-year veteran of the executive search industry, Susan focuses on searches for CEOs and other functional roles that include general management, manufacturing, sales and marketing, engineering/R&D and finance.
Her clients have included Fortune 500 and private equity sponsored entities, as well as emerging and mid-sized entities.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Susan was a principal in the industrial practice at another leading international executive search firm and, earlier, a partner with The Heidrick Partners, a mid-sized, boutique firm based in Chicago. Her experience includes work in the fields of machinery and equipment, electrical and electronic controls, and the chemicals and process industries.
Susan began her career with Clow Corporation, a mid-sized publicly traded company, where she worked in the engineered products division, a leading manufacturer of severe service process control valves used in the petrochemical, power and general process industries. She held positions in sales and marketing, project management, procurement and quality.
Susan is a director of the Glenwood School for Boys and Girls and a former director of the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago, a social service organization dedicated to the progress of women and children. She also has served as chapter co-president and an international board member of International Association Corporate and Professional Resources (IACPR).
Susan earned a bachelor of science in management from Elmhurst College and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
